<p class="ql-block">Stanley Royle RBA, RCA ，1888年–1961年， English post-impressionist風(fēng)景畫畫家和插圖畫畫家，一生大部分時(shí)間都居住在 Sheffield (England)周邊和Canada。他生在 Stalybridge, Cheshire，1904年在Sheffield Technical School of Art學(xué)習(xí)。 1908年拿到獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金后繼續(xù)在學(xué)校深造。最早受到老師Oliver Senior的影響，然后是 Anglo-Danish藝術(shù)家Sir George Clausen的影響。</p> <p class="ql-block">他的第一份工作是為當(dāng)?shù)貓?bào)紙畫插圖。 1911年他開始在 UK展出作品。第一個(gè)成功是在1913年在 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition展出作品。其中就有： Spring Morning Amongst the Bluebells。1914年在Royal Academy辦展。 1915年他的油畫 Ploughing (A Fresh Morning: View of Mosborough from Renishaw) 在Royal Academy展出。 1916年他的兩幅主要作品在 Royal Academy展出，并于1918年被選入Royal Society of British Artists (RSBA) 。1920年他成為全職RSBA會(huì)員，并在 Sheffield School of Art教書。1921年他創(chuàng)作了Morning on the Derbyshire Moors。 他創(chuàng)作的Spring Morning Amongst the Bluebells、 The Lilac Sun Bonnet和The Goose Girl都有一位女士做為作品主角。</p> <p class="ql-block">1922年他拿到當(dāng)?shù)厮囆g(shù)商人 Frederick Horner的訂單，創(chuàng)作四幅大型 Sheffield主題油畫: Sheffield from Mayfields、Sheffield from Wincobank Wood、 Sheffield from the Park、Sheffield from Crookes。它們成為 Museums Sheffield的收藏。 2005年其中一幅 Sheffield from Wincobank Wood 在Tate Britain's exhibition A Picture of Britain展出。</p> <p class="ql-block">1925年從RSBA辭職后，他被選入The Royal West of England Academy。他搬到Ecclesall附近 Park Head Crescent 新建的房子里， 1930年他成為 Sheffield Print Club合伙人。</p> <p class="ql-block">1930年到1931年他為 "Sheffield Independent" Newspaper做插圖師 。他教 Elizabeth Styring Nutt 上課，她是加拿大 Principal of the Nova Scotia College of Art，每個(gè)夏天都會(huì)來 Britain，并說服他1931年12月移民到加拿大，在學(xué)校教書 。他在Nova Scotia School of Art 教書，一直到 1934年。他們回到 Britain和 Sheffield，但 1935年他回到 Nova Scotia 榮任 Director of the Owens Art Museum & College of Art, 第二年在Mount Allison University, Sackville of Fine Arts任首席教授，任期長達(dá)十年。 在他任職期間 Mount Allison university成為 Canada第一個(gè)有 Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) 學(xué)位的學(xué)校。 Art Gallery of Nova Scotia也是現(xiàn)今收藏他的作品最大的公共場所。 1936年他榮任 Associate Member of the Royal Canadian Academy， 1942年成為全職會(huì)員。</p> <p class="ql-block">他在 Canada期間，創(chuàng)作了Rocky Mountains和海岸線主題的作品。期間定期回Europe，創(chuàng)作了Isle of Sark、 Dorset和 Derbyshire風(fēng)景畫。1942年成為Royal Canadian Academy of Arts全職會(huì)員， 1945年和他妻子回到UK，住在他女兒在Suffolk那里，后搬到Nottinghamshire北部。</p> <p class="ql-block">1945年他和他妻子永久搬回。四十年代他在 Royal Academy展出作品。并榮任president of the Sheffield Society of Artists （1950年）。 Paris Salon授予他 Silver Medal （1951年） 和 Gold Medal （1955年）。 期間周游 Ireland、 Scotland、 Cornwall 和 Brittany 尋找創(chuàng)作靈感。其中39幅作品在Royal Academy展出。</p> <p class="ql-block">1961年他被診斷出肺癌，同年3月去世。 追思會(huì)在Worksop Priory, Nottinghamshire 舉辦，骨灰葬在當(dāng)?shù)啬沟亍?lt;/p> <p class="ql-block">1962年Graves Art Gallery、 Sheffield Galleries and Museums Trust舉辦他的作品回顧展</p> <p class="ql-block">1989年Curator of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia館長Patrick Condon Laurette出版了名為Stanley Royle (1888–1961)的書。第二本書講述了他的人生和作品 （ 2008年），著書人 Timothy Dickson，由 Derwent-Wye Fine Art出版。其它出版物還有 Our Home and Native Land - Sheffield's Canadian Artists，1991年 Michael Tooby編著， Sheffield Arts Department with funding from the Arts Council出版。</p> <p class="ql-block">1995年他女兒Jean將她收藏的他父親的作品捐獻(xiàn)給 Sheffield Galleries and Museums Trust。 其它收藏還有：Rotherham、Oldham、 Derby Art Gallery和 Glasgow Museum。 Graves Art Gallery于 2015年舉辦了他的畫展。在Canada，他的作品被, National Gallery of Canada、Art Gallery of Nova Scotia，等收藏。</p>
