這是根據(jù)《圣經(jīng)》故事繪制的宗教繪畫。畫家充分發(fā)揮了想象力，大膽處理了圣母升天這一復(fù)雜的主題：圣母雙臂張開，裙裾飄曳，在小天使們的簇?fù)硐?，向天上飛升。就作品來看，有著強(qiáng)烈的矯飾主義風(fēng)格，浪漫而瑰麗，形式特點(diǎn)很強(qiáng)，人物生動細(xì)膩，圣母的虔誠神往與小天使可愛的形象動作，構(gòu)成了一個(gè)并不缺少人情味的天上世界。
這是一幅具有恢宏氣勢的巨大壁畫,描繪了圣母升天的神圣瞬間,具有濃厚的宗教色彩。畫中，站于地面上的是仰天呼送圣母的人們,動態(tài)不一,但神情卻是一致的虔誠,中間是一群被天使們簇引,身穿紅衣的圣母,上方是有天使相隨的上帝。這是提香早期作品,構(gòu)圖莊嚴(yán),描繪真實(shí)細(xì)膩。
